In the afternoon 23rd November, the exhibition “Live and fight for the capital” was officially opened. It was held by the Department of Culture and Sports of Hanoi associated with the Center for Preservation of Thang Long - Hanoi and the Hanoi Museum organization.
The exhibition introduced documentaries, artifacts, images of Hanoi Museum and the Center for Preservation of Thang Long – Hanoi about the war against France colonial (1945-1954). The content of the exhibition was covered by 3 main topics: Vietnam has the right to have liberty and independence, Hanoi - 60 days of fire and smoke (19/12/1946 – 17/2/1947) and Capital Liberation (10/10/1954).
With about 50 documentaries, artifacts, images showed, the topic “Vietnam has the right to have liberty and independence” proved the great achievements of August Revolution which opens the era of independence and freedom for the people of Vietnam.

The topic “Hanoi – 60 days of fire and smoke” covered by about 91 selected images, artifacts about how brave our soldiers fought for our country in French war time and how they completed the mission to lock the enemy in the city in 60 days and nights in order to keep safe for President Ho Chi Minh and Party Central Committee, the Government and the Capital Regiment to work on the miraculous and safely retreating from Hanoi to the North of Vietnam.
The 42 images, documentaries about topic “Capital liberation 10/10/1954” reappeared the happy atmosphere of Hanoi people welcoming soldiers to celebrate the Capital liberation and the failure of French after the war in Dien Bien Phu.
In the exhibition, many works, books of the old Hanoi and the new Hanoi, history, culture, economy,… are showed and exchanged.
The exhibition “Live and fight for the capital” lasted until 3/1/2017 at Hanoi Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
